POLITE SOFTWARE STUDIO

Software that behaves.

We make focused tools for people who care about their work—and who expect their software to respect it too.

THE STUDIO

Polite is a product principle.

Backblaze lost 12 TB of our backup. Apple killed Aperture in 2014. Adobe asked us to subscribe to our own files. DAMN is what we built instead.

Polite Software Studio makes focused tools for demanding creative work. We care about clear information, fast interaction, strong keyboard support, and interfaces that stay calm as the work grows.

WHAT WE MEAN BY POLITE

Power to your own damn archive.

It looks before it touches.

Your files are not content. DAMN reads nothing without your consent, generates no thumbnails you did not ask for, and performs no background I/O.

It asks before it works hard.

Your archive is not a hostage. Every expensive operation is priced in gigabytes and minutes before it starts, and nothing heavy happens without you choosing it.

It explains where the bytes go.

Your metadata is not a subscription feature. Paths stay readable, encryption happens before upload, and you can find, verify and restore your own archive without asking anyone.

THE TOOLS

DAMN makes a large photo archive feel workable again.

It brings navigation, filtering, culling, inspection and export into one direct, keyboard-operated workspace for macOS.

ALSO FROM THE STUDIO

Same principles, different archive.

DAMN

A photo archive for macOS that reads originals where they already are, across disks that are not always plugged in.

ChoroChronos

A timeline built from events, with maps and charts. Stored on your device, works offline, no account. Coming to Mac and iOS.

Promytheus

A CMS where content is structured JSON rather than scattered HTML — designed so an agent can read the schema, preview a change and publish it.
