DAMN is polite software.
For people tired of renting access to their own photographs.
DAMN · PHOTO ARCHIVE FOR macOS
Your archive, at working speed.
Navigate, filter, select, rate, cull, tag, organise, inspect and export without breaking your flow. Above all, enjoy your photos in true HDR.
No account. No cloud required. No subscription.
DAMN in action. Watch this in fullscreen.
A SERIOUS PHOTO ARCHIVE, WITHOUT THE CEREMONY
The whole library. Still yours.
One catalogue over every disk you own, online or not. Filter 220,000 photographs by lens, year, camera or state and get an answer while you are still typing.
INDEPENDENT BY DESIGN
Your archive does not become a service.
DAMN runs on your Mac and works with the storage you choose—including local disks and optional S3 Remotes. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to keep paying for, nothing that stops working when you stop paying.
HORIZONTAL STORAGE
Add a disk. The library stays one.
Choose File → Add Path to Library… to grow the archive. Local disks and S3 Remotes are equal locations—no primary, no subordinate copy, no libraries to merge later.
220,000
photographs
18.5 TB
4 locations, one view
Our own archive, in one library.
Two of these three disks are not plugged in. One was last seen two weeks ago. The count is still complete.
THE WORKFLOW
Ask the archive a better question.
“When did I last use this lens?”
Put Lens before Year, choose a lens, and DAMN answers from the whole library. The columns are the query.
Add State, sensor format, aspect ratio, orientation, file format, month, ISO, aperture, exposure time, focal length, program, white balance, labels, tags and more. Each column filters the ones to its right. Reorder the same facets for a different question; include, combine or exclude values as you go.
KEYBOARD FIRST
Your hands already know what to do.
Move with the arrow keys. Rate with 1–3. Collapse bursts with B. Press Enter for the Viewer. HDR photographs appear in true HDR on supported displays, with an SDR rendition everywhere else.
COMPARE · COPY AWARE
OFFLINE is not Missing.
DAMN counts photographs, not files. A disk on a shelf is a state, not an error. Reduced redundancy is visible, and a file that disappears is recorded—never treated as an instruction to touch another copy.
Compare any two equal locations without declaring either one authoritative. Same path when structure matters. Same photo when the photograph matters.
Made carefully.
DAMN is one of the tools we build for people who care about their work.
